Starting from the 2025/26 school year, eligible aided schools (including special schools) and caput schools in Hong Kong can choose to:

Given that the NET Scheme is being revamped and replaced by the NET Grant, NETs who seek NET Grant teaching positions should obtain the following qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in any subject (from a Hong Kong university or equivalent); and
a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign / Second Language (TEFL / TESL) or a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or equivalent; and
Valid IELTS Academic result (overall band score of 7.5 or above, with “Speaking” band score of 7.5 or above)
